HomeShowExpo Celebrates 50th Anniversary

In September, the Home Builders Association of Greater Des Moines marked its fiftieth year hosting the HomeShowExpo in the metro area. A lot has changed during that half century. But one thing has remained the same: The HomeShowExpo highlights the talents of some incredible professionals, and Des Moines does that in its own unique way.

Although other home builders associations around the country have hosted shows as long as Des Moines has, every other association has gravitated away from a single-site show. Des Moines is the only remaining organization that has never deviated from that format, even during COVID in 2020.

For its anniversary year, the show was held at the Ridgeview Development in Johnston and showcased seven beautiful homes built by seven of the area’s finest builders. Participants included: Alair Homes Des Moines; Caselli Construction; Design2Build; Legacy Home Builders, LLC; North Star Development, LLC; Showtime Homes; and Silent Rivers Design+Build.

For anyone attending the show, they were sure to have been wowed as always and able to view the latest in trends, products, and technology. They could see first-hand what is coming next for new homes, landscaping, and decorating.

Of course, just like the last fifty years, the talented local builders, with the help of an army of other professionals, went all out to design and create these fabulous homes. The results were jaw-dropping amenities, cutting-edge elements, and spectacular features. With all the homes fully landscaped and decorated, they were all showstoppers.

Hopefully, you were able to attend this big event, to tour the homes at your leisure and explore all the innovative features and unique aspects for yourself. Maybe you even had the opportunity to talk to the builders directly about constructing a new home for yourself. But if you didn’t make it out, we wanted to give you a glimpse of some of the beautiful ideas that were on display and show off a few of our favorites. •
